The University of West Florida has posted a YouTube video claiming to have found DNA from the Alabama sturgeon in the waters of the Alabama River.  Using a technique called E-DNA, a team of biologists and researchers say enough evidence has been found that an effort is underway to catch enough of the elusive fish to breed through the hatchery process in order to re-populate the species where it has historically existed, i.e., the Alabama River Basin.

An attempt to catch and breed the species in the Marion Fish Hatchery about 15 years ago was not successful.  Click here to view the video.
