The 2018 Annual Conference of the Coosa-Alabama River Improvement Association is scheduled for Thursday, May 10th and Friday, May 11th, at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel in Montgomery, Alabama, the head of navigation on the Alabama River.

Schedule of Events begins on Thursday with an open schedule to allow you to enjoy the variety of activities Montgomery has to offer (the Renaissance spa, golf, tennis, shopping, sightseeing, etc.) before a welcome host bar reception at 5:00 PM at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel. Included in your registration fee is an evening at Riverwalk Stadium when Montgomery’s AA baseball team, the Biscuits (minor league affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays) will play the Biloxi Shuckers (Milwaukee Brewers) at 6:35 PM. CARIA will have an area with a buffet set aside at the Stadium.  There are some very good restaurants and hangout places in downtown Montgomery just waiting for you to visit. Friday’s events will include a full breakfast starting at 7:30 am, a CARIA membership meeting, the general meeting and a closing luncheon.  The general meeting topics will cover issues pertaining to Alabama’s river systems, highlighting the Alabama-Coosa-Tallapoosa basin, but with a special emphasis on infrastructure and economic development.

Room Reservations: We will be based at the Marriott Renaissance Montgomery Hotel, 201 Tallapoosa Street, Montgomery, AL 36104.  The reservation block code “COOSA ALABAMA RIVER IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION MEETING 2018” is good through April 10th, after which reservations are based on room availability. Room rates at $145 per night (plus taxes) are available for one night, 10 May 2018. You can book with our group rate online at this link or by calling the hotel reservation line at 877-545-0311. This link and rate is made specifically for attendees who are not federal employees.

Federal employees with an ID may reserve a room for $93 (plus tax).  You must book directly through the Association by emailing info@caria.org.   The cutoff date for the federal group rate is also Tuesday, April 10th, 2018.

The earlier you make a reservation, the better your chances of getting a room in the reservation block.

Self-parking is $16 per night ($23 for valet).  Complete lodging instructions are found on the registration page. The earlier you make a reservation, the better your chances of a room in the CARIA block.

Your sponsorship helps us to keep registration fees down, thereby increasing our number of attendees and allowing us to put on a quality program. Our rivers have great, often untapped, potential for economic development in all aspects of navigation, hydropower, recreation, water supply, flood risk management, and environmental stewardship. Registration: Please register online or by mailing the brochure as soon as possible. It would be helpful to the CARIA staff if you can have your registration in no later than April 20th.
