CARIA Annual Meeting
April 27 – 28, 2017

The 2017 Annual Meeting of the Coosa-Alabama River Improvement Association is scheduled Thursday, April 27, and Friday, April 28, at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Montgomery, Alabama, the head of navigation on the Alabama River.

Schedule of Events begins on Thursday with an open schedule to allow you to enjoy the variety of activities Montgomery has to offer (golf, tennis, shopping, sightseeing, etc.) before a welcome host bar reception at 5:30 PM at the Embassy Suites. Included in your registration fee is an evening at Riverwalk Stadium when Montgomery’s AA baseball team, the Biscuits (minor league affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays) will play the Birmingham Barons (Chicago White Sox) at 7:05 PM. CARIA will have an area with a buffet set aside at the Stadium.  If baseball isn’t your thing, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival is featuring The Tempest by William Shakespeare on both Thursday and Friday evenings. Friday’s events will include a continental breakfast, a CARIA membership meeting, the general meeting, and a closing luncheon. The general meeting topics will cover issues pertaining to Alabama’s river systems, highlighting the Alabama-Coosa-Tallapoosa basin, but with a special emphasis on the safety and infrastructure of Alabama’s dams. The closing luncheon will feature a gift of appreciation to CARIA’s long-time executive, Ralph Clemens.

Room Reservations: CARIA will be based at the Embassy Suites (www.embassysuites.hilton.com), 300 Tallapoosa Street in Montgomery. The Embassy Suites offers a complimentary continental style breakfast for guests and a manager’s reception daily at 5:00 PM. The CARIA reservation block (code CAR) is good through April 14, after which reservations are based on room availability. Room rates at $109 per night (plus taxes) are available one (1) night before and one (1) night after the CARIA event. Self-parking is $10 per night ($15 for valet). Complete lodging instructions are found on the registration page. The earlier you make a reservation, the better your chances of a room in the CARIA block.

We need sponsors. Please help us defray some of the costs of putting on this special meeting. A sponsorship will include one free registration (including spouse) for both days for each $500 increment of sponsorship, as well as recognition in the program, signage, and public information and marketing materials.

Registration: Please register as soon as possible. It would be helpful to the CARIA staff if you can have your registration in no later than April 20. Hope to see you in Montgomery where we can celebrate CARIA’s 127th year.
